A Day in the Life
What are three things you love and three things you find challenging or frustrating about your work?
Love:
1.  Dedication of the people I work with
2.  Usefulness of my work to the organization
3.  Learning innovative approaches to food issues

Challenging or frustrating:
1.  Shortness of the fellowship
2.  How much more there is to be done
3.

What is the most important task on your desk right now?
Writing a profile of how the Portland Food Policy Council got started and working out the details of a local action group meetings to discuss food security issues

What drives you to do this work? What makes you want to get out of bed every morning?
I love knowing that my work is part of a larger project to improve community food security in Lane County. I also enjoy the energy of my co-workers.

How often do you "dress up" for work? Describe the culture of your organization.
It is relatively casual. Some people dress up, but jeans or khakis are fine most days.

In a typical month, about what percentage of your time is spent on the following activities?
Talking on the phone goes with 'meetings'
Dealing with email 15%
Meetings with individuals 5%
Meetings with groups/committees 5%
Writing 20%
Reading 20%
Researching 30%

(Note: respondents could allow their answers to add up to be more than 100%)

What do you do when you are feeling burned out at work?
I don't feel burnt out that often; usually I take a break and wander around the food bank warehouse. Making pottery is another great release.
