Civic Engagement Curriculum

The C.O.O.L. Idealist Civic Engagement Curriculum is designed to provide students and campus administrators with training in the essential tools and strategies needed to enact social change in communities and on campuses across the country.

This set of trainings is currently made up of more than 25 workshops that can be easily used and adapted by student leaders, community service directors, and many others on college campuses. (Additionally, Idealist On Campus staff may be available to deliver these trainings on campuses.) The curriculum addresses a variety of aspects of civic engagement, including service, activism, advocacy, and political involvement. Each workshop includes a suggested level of experience, goals, timeline, materials list, outline, and appropriate handouts to make it easy for anyone to lead a workshop on this diverse set of topics.

The original set of training modules was developed in partnership with The Bonner Foundation and the staff and students from the 75 campuses that participate in the Bonner Scholar and Bonner Leader Programs. This curriculum is free for public use.
