C.O.O.L.+Idealist.org Merger History

While the campus work of Action Without Borders/Idealist.org has been focused primarily on the career issue, the mission of our organization is much broader. The merger with C.O.O.L. presented a unique opportunity to deepen our campus work in an original and exciting fashion. Both organizations believed that through a merger, we could achieve a stronger presence and expand the existing programs to fit the current needs and interests of students and campuses, in the United States and around the world.

Blending C.O.O.L.'s focus on student leadership and campus involvement with Idealist.org's focus on supporting the nonprofit sector, we now pursue a common purpose: to help talented young individuals get engaged in improving communities and consider ways to stay involved throughout their lifetimes. By combining C.O.O.L.'s expertise in conferences, training, curriculum, and resources that support the creation and management of campus-based community programs with Idealist's extensive online presence, nonprofit networks, nonprofit career fairs, and career planning resources, Idealist On Campus will be a strong voice in the civic engagement sector, particularly at the higher education level.
