Award Nominations

The Idealist Campus Awards recognize the excellence of individuals and campuses across the country who, by their commitment to student involvement in communities, have successfully brought the power and impact of youth civic engagement to the foreground of student, campus, and community life.

AWARD CATEGORIES:

Practical Dreamer Award (Student)
This award will go to a student who has demonstrated outstanding leadership, creativity, and innovation in imagining a better world, as s/he has started a new program or brought new life to an existing one.

Building Bridges Award (Student)
This award will go to a student who demonstrates exceptional leadership in the area of building strong collaborative relations on and/or across campuses and within the surrounding community, helping to build a network of people and organizations that want to act locally, think globally, and share what they can with others.

Building Bridges Award (Campus Staff member)
This award will go to a campus staff member who demonstrates exceptional leadership in the area of building strong collaborative relations on and/or across campuses and within the surrounding community, helping to build a network of people and organizations that want to act locally, think globally, and share what they can with others.

Beyond Borders Award (Student or Campus Program)
This award will go to a student or campus program that has demonstrated exceptional dedication and perseverance in focusing on issues that affect the international community, with the aim of helping people lead free and dignified lives no matter where they are in the world.

Idealism in Action Award (Campus)
This award will go to a campus that has demonstrated depth and breadth in their commitment to civic engagement so that no opportunities for action and collaboration are missed or wasted. The recipient of this award will be a campus that has shown commitment to community service, activism, service-learning, and socially responsible careers, creating numerous possibilities to connect and work together.

AWARDS CEREMONY AND PRESENTATION

Winners will be honored at an all-conference session on either March 23rd or 25th during the 2007 Idealist Campus Conference at DePaul University. Award nominees should plan to attend the conference and register in advance. Finalists will be notified 2-4 weeks before the conference.

NOMINATION INSTRUCTIONS

To nominate yourself or someone else for Idealist Campus Awards, email Celeste Hamilton at Celeste@idealist.org (Subject: "Idealist Campus Award Nomination") before February 23, 2007. In your email, please include the following information:

  • Name of nominee
  • Contact information - email address and telephone number - of nominee
  • Academic Year (if a student)
  • Position/Department (if an administrator)
  • Title of Award for nomination
  • Brief explanation (no more than 250 words) explaining why you feel that this person, campus, or campus program deserves consideration for this award
