Since 2003 the staff of Idealist On Campus has worked to organize an annual student conference, the C.O.O.L. Idealist National Conference, which builds on the C.O.O.L. legacy by providing meaningful and often life-changing experiences for conference attendees. Both the C.O.O.L. and the C.O.O.L. Idealist National Conference programs have historically included 150 workshops and nearly 50 affinity group sessions, panels, poster sessions, and forums, covering a diverse array of topics, and drawing upon the leadership and expertise of a percentage of the conference attendees. The 2007 Idealist Campus Conference differs from this model in a few key ways: Rather than select workshop presenters from a large pool of talented applicants, the 2007 conference draws upon the experiences of every single conference attendee. Using a new model of “Cooperative Groups,” all conference participants will share and learn from one another throughout the weekend. This year’s event will focus on the theme of building a world where all people can live free and dignified lives. Using dialogue, skill-sharing, and networking, conference participates will examine methods of: Turning ideas into action Making sure no opportunity for collaboration is wasted Connecting people, resources, and ideas Using Idealist.org’s newest features as an organizing tool allows us to ensure that the conference is much more than a three-day event. Conference attendees will be connected before, during, and after the event, as part of a global movement to create a better world. |
